Red Rock Indian Band Pow Wow

The Red Rock Indian Band Pow Wow or Opwaaganisiniing Traditional Gathering, is a vibrant event hosted by the Red Rock Indian Band each summer on the third weekend in July. It is a celebration of living traditions and heritage of the Anishinaabek people. Everyone is welcomed to attend the gathering and experience Indigenous culture in a respectful and joyful setting.

For more than two days, the Pow Wow brings together people of all ages to enjoy traditional dancing, drumming, and music, as well as cultural crafts and Indigenous cuisine. Central to the event are the communal feasts offered for participants at no cost, fostering a spirit of sharing and togetherness.

The term “pow wow:” is often used to describe gatherings like this one, rooted in longstanding Indigenous traditions that bring communities together to honour culture, spirituality, and connections across generations. These gatherings blend ceremony, celebration, storytelling, and friendship in a way that is both meaningful and welcoming to respectful visitors.
