About The Nipigon Lagoon

Be prepared to ride with or push against a breif but srong current under the bridge.  The calm water in the lagoon makes it an excellent choice for beginner paddlers or families who want to explore a safe and scenic stretch of shoreline. Anglers also spend time here in spring and summer, catching mainly northern pike.

The surrounding area reflects the deep history of the region. The lagoon was once part of traditional travel routes used by Indigenous peoples moving between inland lakes and Lake Superior.
