Nipigon Ice Fest

Nipigon Ice Fest is Canada’s longest running ice climbing festival, drawing outdoor enthusiasts and adventurers from across the region and beyond. First established in 1986, the festival is organized by volunteers with all proceeds going back into supporting the event year after year. It typically takes place the first weekend in March, and offers a mix of activities for climbers of all abilities, from beginners to experts.

At the heart of Ice Fest are the ice climbing clinics where participants can learn new skills, tackle different levels of climbing terrain, and connect with fellow climbers in a supportive setting. Alongside the climbing opportunities, the festival offers a variety of activities, presentations, and social gatherings that highlight the community spirit and make the event as much about connecting with others as it is about ice climbing.

Whether you are an aspiring climber looking to learn the basics, an experienced ice climber seeking fresh challenges, or simply someone who loves winter adventure and scenic landscapes, Nipigon Ice Fest offers an unforgettable experience. The festival celebrates winter, outdoor exploration, and the lively spirit of those who embrace cold weather adventure.
